Slate has been for hundreds of years, a widely used natural medium for memorial purposes. Slate is an excellent medium for either machine cut or hand cut lettering.
In more recent times, slate has been frequently used for commemorative plaques in gardens of remembrance that are found in crematoriums and these are further examples of how the material may be brought to use.
